Lockdowns May Be Lifted, But the Rules of the Road Are Still Set in Stone
Now that Colorado has lifted lockdowns and more drivers are back on the road, there is no excuse to perpetuate the reckless driving environment that overtook our highways, especially during the summer months. With an abundance of commuters, road trippers, teen drivers, mountain-town tourists, and alcohol-impaired drivers, this is a perfect storm for an accident.
You can do your part in creating safer roads by:
-Obeying the speed limits
-Never driving after drinking or taking part in other controlled substances
-Calling a taxi or rideshare service for friends who have been drinking or using substances
-Limiting the number of passengers in your teen driver’s car
-Not speeding up to pass through yellow traffic lights
-Checking your blindspots frequently for motorcyclists
-Slowing down for road construction
-Not texting while driving
There is no need to contribute to an auto accident or roadside fatality statistics when the state of Colorado endured so much to get through COVID-19. While it’s true that Coloradans are itching to get out and enjoy the remainder of the year after months of lockdown and social distancing, don’t let that energy be the reason you injure yourself or others. Having almost zero traffic during COVID-19 was convenient in many ways, but we can’t forget what the traffic patterns were like before everyone began staying home. We each deserve to enjoy a fun and safe rest of 2020, free of accidents and traffic tickets.

In 1974, Mike and Karen McDivitt started what eventually became McDivitt Law Firm. The firm is rooted in the principle that each person deserves to have equal access to the civil justice system. The McDivitts firmly believe that everyone should be able to have an attorney, whether you can afford one or not. Mike made it clear from the start that he doesn’t get a fee unless he is able to get you the money you deserve for your injuries.

In 2007, Karen and Mike’s son David joined the firm as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. A nationally recognized trial lawyer, David now runs the firm’s litigation and trial group, where he is responsible for both trying and supervising jury trials through verdict.

Over the past several decades, the firm has become one of the largest Personal Injury law firms in Colorado. It is still family-owned, but now Mike and Karen McDivitt are able to provide quality legal representation to thousands more clients than they could when they first opened their doors. With more than 80 staff and attorneys, McDivitt Law Firm prides itself on its ability to provide first-class legal representation to each of its clients, in a way that is affordable to anyone.
