Distracted Driving Can Be Devastating

Talking to your teen can be difficult, but some things are worth sitting down and chatting about, and distracted driving is one of them. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, approximately 40 distracted driving crashes occur in Colorado each day.

What most people don't realize is that if you're moving along at 55 mph, looking away from the road for just a few seconds is the equivalent of driving the length of a football field blindfolded, and a lot can happen in that time. After all, a few seconds can mean the difference between avoiding an accident and a serious impact.

It's also illegal for any driver under the age of 18 to use a phone while driving, and hefty fines can apply. Use these points along with the many stories we hear to discourage your teen from texting and driving, and don't forget to set the example yourself!

Unfortunately, though, not everybody can be convinced. Some people -both young and old- continue to use their phones while they're driving and that is negligent to everyone's safety. So if you've been injured by a distracted driver, don't pay for a mistake you didn't make, see how we've helped others and call us today.
